"When the sign is in the knees..."

According to Memaw, there's an old wife's tale that says if you wean your baby when the zodiac sign is in the knees that your baby won't fuss or cry out and that the transition will be easier for your baby... not sure if that is the exact saying, but close enough. Needless to say, she's reminded me of this every time she's seen me as Auntie L mentioned to her that I was having problems getting Emery to even take a bottle. If Emery saw the bottle, she would not have it at all and would SCREAM like you were trying to hurt her. Trying not to get frustrated... I was willing to try anything! Thanks to Memaw... the zodiac sign is in the knees on Dec 19th & 20th. Ready or not, here we go...

Friday night (Dec 18th), I nursed her before she went down for the night. On Saturday morning, she woke-up and we went straight downstairs for breakfast. Throughout the day on Saturday, she had many tubs of yogurt to keep the fluids in her as she was refusing the sippy cup throughout the day. I hadn't really pushed the bottle as I didn't want to upset her as her whole world was changing. Saturday night was a bit difficult and I finally broke down and fixed a bottle for her... and, she drank the whole thing!!!

We're now getting close to the end of a full week of nothing but the bottle... I guess I have to say that I am a believer of weaning your baby when the sign is in the knees! Except for Saturday, Emery has had a very easy transition especially for being such a head-strong baby... but, we LOVE her just the way she is and wouldn't change a thing!

Mommy feels much more relaxed about leaving her with Auntie L & Uncle J during the ski trip in January!

Her First Sleepover

Emery had her first sleepover with Auntie L and Uncle J on Wednesday night. Mommy was a bit nervous as she is SO attached me and thought she may experience a little separation anxiety... But, she proved Mommy wrong and Mommy was the one that was actually experiencing the separation anxiety! Auntie L said she did great! She said Emery would be playing on the floor and all of a sudden remember that Mommy wasn't around and get pissed off... After a short time, she would be playing and laughing on the floor again! A bit confused, should she be mad or happy! ... All in preparation for when Mommy & Daddy take their ski trip in January!

As always, our 10-day Texas Holiday was fast & furious! Packing and unpacking from one house to the next... It's always so nice to see all of our family & friends, but it's always so nice to be back home in our own beds.
